Halloween is Just Another Marketing Opportunity for the Gun Industry

While the gun industry’s tendency to take any holiday and try to twist it into a marketing opportunity on social media is well documented (see past updates for Thanksgiving, or Christmas, or Valentine’s Day) there’s something about exploiting Halloween – a festive event where children are the focus – that’s just that much more cynical and grotesque. This is especially true in light of the fact that in 2023 guns were the leading cause of death for children ages one to 17 for the fourth year in a row.

Below are just three examples of Halloween posts from gun manufacturers whose product lines include high-capacity pistols, assault weapons, and other weaponry.
